Day 12 - Karate Chopped Salsa

Well I learned a valuable lesson recently and it is something everyone should know:  You get what you pay for. Last year I bought a blender.  It was a 10 dollar blender at Wal -Mart and it was 90% plastic. After I got it home I noticed how flimsy it was but I was only going to use it for making salsa I thought.  Wow what a mistake.  This Black and Decker blender is the worst appliance (small or large) I have ever owned.  Even the hand cranked food processor that I have is better.  I made salsa in it a few times lets say about 10.  It was already cracking and leaking around the 6th time but I kept using it.  To make a long story short my 10 dollar blender cost me $1 per use.  I threw the whole thing in the trash a couple of days ago vowing to never make the same mistake again.  Gordon Ramsay forgive me that I ever even entertained the idea of owning such a horrible piece of garbage.  There is redemption brothers and sisters.  There is a way out.  Trust me, there is a brand that can save you. You can reach that other worldly place of power and might.  Enter The Ninja.  I've seen the Ninja on TV and of course I didn't give much thought to it but when I looked at it at Sam's Club today and being short the necessary kitchen appliance that makes the #1 condiment in the world I had to give it a try.  Mr Miyagi would have been proud and thank God I didn't have to wax on and wax off for 6 months to be able to make perfect salsa.  Here's a pic:
I made a couple of salsas in 2 of the 4 blender containers that came with it and it didn't take long.  I like the fact that it doesn't pulverize everything right away.  It is very simple to use and gets great results and for $50 I think it is a great buy.  The salsa on the right is a roasted tomatillo and serrano pepper salsa.  The one of the left is made with tomato, serranos,  1 dried ancho chile, and a few other things.  I think they look beautiful and they will go well with the Fajitas I'm planning on making this weekend.  Another thing I like about the Ninja is that you can store in the same container you just blended in. I don't have to search through the cupboard for bowls and lid, and they fit in the refrigerator nicely.

The cleanup is also very easy.  Just ask my wife!
